The Slovak government approved on Friday its military experts' participation in the European Union Training Mission (EUTM) in Mali, in response to a request from France, the Slovak Defense Ministry said in a statement.
PRAGUE (Sputnik) – The precise conditions for Slovak servicemen deployment will be determined after negotiations with France, according to the statement. The Republic is expected to send maximum five experts for six months.
'At the request of the French side, we will send our highly specialized military experts [to Mali]. In particular, it will be a mentoring team focused on consulting and training,' Defense Minister Martin Glvac said as quoted in the statement.
On Wednesday, the German government said it would boost its military presence in Mali to 650 soldiers to assist France in its global fight against extremists after a series of coordinated attacks in Paris that killed 130 people and injured over 360.
