An Advisor to the Polish President said that Poland will pursue a policy aimed at increasing the presence of NATO troops in the country.

The new Polish administration will take a tough stand against Russia and enhance cooperation with NATO, Advisor to the Polish President on international issues Krzysztof Szczerski said.

Szczerski stressed that Poland will continue its policy to increase the presence of NATO troops in the country despite Moscow's claims that the presence of NATO forces near the Russian border would lead to a breach of the NATO-Russia Founding Act 1997.

According to the politician, the agreement should be reconsidered as conditions for limits on the presence of NATO forces in Europe are no longer relevant.

Poland will work to strengthen military cooperation with the United States as well as the establishment of the joint Polish-American military bases in the country, Szczerski said.

He also noted that the Polish authorities will work on establishing a visa-free regime with Ukraine and will protect the right of Kiev to join NATO and the EU.
