Today, Secretary Carter spoke with the German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen. Secretary Carter outlined the restructuring of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) and subordinate units in Germany as part of the Army's Aviation Restructuring Initiative (ARI) in Europe. He also outlined the Army's plan for rotational forces to complement the brigade. Secretary Carter and Minister von der Leyen vowed to remain closely connected throughout the restructuring process. Minister von der Leyen thanked Secretary Carter for the information. The Secretary and the Minister expressed mutual appreciation for the strong military relationship between the United States and Germany and both are looking forward to meeting again in Europe.
