Readout of Secretary of Defense call with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Defense Prince Mohammed bin Salman
Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter spoke with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Defense Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Secretary Carter praised the strategic relationship between the United States and underscored the U.S. commitment to the region and Saudi Arabia's security. Secretary Carter emphasized the importance of limiting civilian casualties when conducting airstrikes and working towards a political solution in Yemen to which Minister Salman agreed. They discussed the importance of continuing to combat AQAP and promised to collaborate closely over the next several weeks to address security issues in the region.
