Readout of Secretary of Defense Ash Carter's call with Singaporean Minister of Defence Ng Eng Hen
Secretary Carter spoke today with Minister Ng to pass along his condolences on the loss of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. The secretary conveyed that he had met then Prime Minister Lee almost 25 years ago as a physicist on a regional delegation. The experience left Secretary Carter with the impression that Prime Minister Lee was an exceptionally wise and kind man.
Minister Ng thanked Secretary Carter for his kind and heartfelt words and looks forward to meeting with Secretary Carter again soon.
