Aden separatists are responsible for waging war in Yemen: Dep FM

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, March 10, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Sana'a is the official and historical capital of Yemen and those who are trying to ignite civil war from Aden are responsible for the consequences.

Amir-Abdollahian said Yemen's resigning President should have stayed in Sana'a and should not make a crisis in the country with his resignation letter.

The Yemeni president fled Sana'a on February 21 after weeks under effective house arrest and went to Aden, where he highlighted his determination to resume duties.

Hadi stepped down in January, but the Yemeni parliament didn't approve the resignation which he later withdrew after leaving the capital. The Houthi Ansarullah movement, however, said that Hadi had lost his legitimacy after escaping Sana'a.

Amir-Abdollahian added the reports about transferring ISIL forces to the south of Yemen is against the security of that country. Employing terrorism in Yemen is a repetition of past strategic mistakes in the region.

The Iranian diplomat said Tehran supports national dialogue between all Yemeni groups since Yemen belongs to all Yemenis.

'Iran continues its consultations with regional countries for confrontation with terrorism and extremism and realization of collective security in the region,' said Amir-Abdollahian.
