Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby provided the following readout:
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel met with People's Republic of China (PRC) Foreign Minister Wang Yi this morning at the Pentagon.
Secretary Hagel and the Foreign Minister discussed the importance of developing the U.S.-China military-to-military relationship. They reaffirmed both side's interest in strengthening cooperation on regional and global challenges, including the threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and the international response to the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
Both sides affirmed that they look forward to President Obama's trip to Beijing in November, and expressed a shared desire that the President's trip be productive and successful.
