BLACK SEA (NNS) -- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) arrived today in Haifa, Israel, for a scheduled port visit. USS Cole (DDG 67) arrived in port, Sept. 14.
This port visit will provide Ross and Cole Sailors with an opportunity to engage with their Israeli counterparts and meet with the people of Haifa, experiencing the rich history and culture of Israel.
This is Ross' first patrol since arriving at Naval Station Rota, Spain. Ross is the second of four guided-missile destroyers to be forward deployed to Europe.
Cole, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, is on a routine deployment in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
Both multi-mission ships are conducting naval operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
