NMCB 4 Relieves NMCB 1 in the Pacific

OKINAWA, Japan. (NNS) -- Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 relieved NMCB 1 during a transfer of authority ceremony on board Camp Shields, Aug. 16.
The ceremony marked the conclusion of turnover for battalion construction responsibilities in the Pacific theater from the camp.
During his speech, Cmdr. Jeff Lengkeek, commanding officer of NMCB 4, thanked the Seabees of NMCB 1 for their accomplishments.
'Your hard work and dedication the last six months will be a tough act to follow,' said Lengkeek. 'I assure you that [NMCB 4] is up to the task. We have the watch.'
Cmdr. Kemit Spears, commanding office of NMCB 1, expressed his thoughts on the deployment and his appreciation for NMCB 4's efforts during turnover.
'We have done well,' said Spears. 'From Cambodia to Timor Leste, we can redeploy with the satisfaction of a job well done. The turnover has shown the level of dedication of NMCB 4 and they embody the 'Can Do!' spirit. The Pacific is in good hands.'
NMCB 4 took over detachment sites in Cambodia, South Korea, Philippines, Timor Leste, Diego Garcia, San Clemente Island, California and China Lake, Virginia. The battalion will support humanitarian assitance operations, sustain interoperability with regional governments and provide fleet construction support.
