Israeli warplanes pounded tens of sites inside the Gaza Strip overnight as Tel Aviv keeps up its onslaught against the Palestinians in the besieged coastal enclave.
Gaza police spokesman Ayman Batniji said on Tuesday morning that Israeli military aircraft bombarded more than 70 targets including five mosques and a sports complex in Gaza overnight.
Health officials in Gaza said three Palestinian women from the same family had lost their lives after one of the overnight airstrikes destroyed their home.
Over the past 15 days, Israeli warplanes have been hitting numerous targets in the Gaza Strip, demolishing homes and burying families in the rubble. Israeli tanks also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.
Latest reports say Israeli raids have killed nearly 600 Palestinians, with the fatalities being mostly women and children. Over 3,500 others have also sustained injuries in the Israeli raids.
Palestinian resistance fighters have killed around 30 Israelis in their retaliatory operations so far.
UK-based Amnesty International has said that over 1,780 homes have been completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable by the Israeli attacks on Gaza, leaving at least 10,600 Palestinians homeless.
The United Nations Security Council has expressed serious concern over the growing number of casualties in the Gaza Strip, which has remained literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007.
