Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah has condemned the initial results of last month's run-off vote that put his rival Ashraf Ghani ahead of him.
Abdullah rejected the preliminary results of the run-off elections in a speech at a gathering of his supporters in the capital, Kabul, on Tuesday.
"We will not accept a fraudulent result — not today, not tomorrow, never. We don't accept the results of frauds. People of Afghanistan were waiting for the real results," Abdullah told his supporters.
Initial results showed that Ghani won the run-off with 56.44 percent of the votes while Abdullah came second with 43.56 percent.
The turnout was over eight million out of an estimated electorate of 13.5 million voters. The final results will be announced on July 22.
Abdullah also said the people of Afghanistan have asked him to form a new government and that he cannot decline their request.
"We won't accept injustice, we came all the way and will go to our [destination] together," he said.
"Circles in the presidential palace, election commissions and Ashraf Ghani's team were on the same page and announced results of fraud," he added, noting that he was the winner of both rounds.
The winner of the election will succeed outgoing President Hamid Karzai, who has been in power since the US-led invasion of the Asian country in 2001.
