U.S. Department of Defense Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs) News Release |
No. NR-029-14 | ||
IMMEDIATE RELEASE | January 15, 2014 |
Spokesperson for the Acting Deputy Secretary of Defense James Swartout provided the following readout:
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, Acting Deputy Secretary of Defense Christine Fox met with the Director General of Israel's Ministry of Defense, Maj Gen. (ret.) Dan Harel. This was Director General Harel's first visit to the United States in his current capacity, and Ms. Fox's first official foreign delegation meeting since assuming her role as acting deputy secretary of defense. Acting Deputy Secretary Fox and Director General Harel reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Israel defense relationship, and committed to working closely together to ensure that Israel has the capabilities it needs to maintain its qualitative military edge. This includes Israel's acquisition of several advanced capabilities from the United States, including the V-22 Osprey, which the U.S. has not released to any other nation. This decision underscores that military-to-military cooperation between the United States and Israel is stronger than ever.
