CHENGDU, November 18 (ChinaMil) -- The China-India army joint anti-terrorism training code-named 'Hand-in-Hand 2013' came to an end on November 13, 2013 at a comprehensive training base of the Chengdu Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in southwest China's Sichuan province.
Although only 100-odd officers and men of the two sides took part in the training and the study subjects conducted were only in terms of tactics, the joint training by the officers and men of the two militaries five years later since the last one has significance far beyond the value of the training itself.
First, the joint training is a measure for promoting bilateral equality, enhancing mutual trust, building up mutual support and establishing strategic partnership. The joint anti-terrorism military training is conducive not only to promoting the relations between the two militaries, but also to uplifting the relations between the two countries.
Second, the joint training is a practical need for the two Asian powers in their joint anti-terrorism efforts. Both China and India are victims of terrorism. The increased anti-terrorism exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries will play a positive role in combating terrorism and promoting peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
Third, the joint training is also a practical need for the two countries to resolve controversial issues. The joint anti-terrorism military training offered servicemen of the two militaries an opportunity to have face-to-face communication and build up mutual trust, which will undoubtedly help the two countries manage and control crises and deal with disputes, such as territorial disputes.
