Pentagon Press Secretary George Little released the following readout:
Today, Secretary Hagel hosted the Republic of Korea (ROK) National Security Advisor, Kim Jang Soo for a meeting in the Pentagon. Mr. Kim spent the past week here in Washington, D.C. meeting with other U.S. government officials including Secretary of State Kerry, and Advisor to the President for National Security Affairs Ambassador Susan Rice.
Secretary Hagel emphasized the importance of the U.S.-ROK alliance, especially in the context of the president's initiative to rebalance to the Asia-Pacific. They discussed the importance of maintaining a robust combined defense of the Korean Peninsula as a strong deterrent against provocations from North Korea. The secretary noted that the Republic of Korea continues to be a linchpin for peace and stability in northeast Asia.
