Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iraqi army have stressed the need for military and security cooperation between the two neighbors.

Training troops, fighting terrorism and securing borders were major topics discussed during a Thursday meeting between Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour and the Commander of Iraqi Ground Forces General Ali Ghaidan Majid, in Tehran.

During the talks, Ghaidan Majid emphasized Baghdad's determination to expel all members of the anti-Iran terrorist group, Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), from Iraq.

In December 2011, the United Nations and the Iraqi government agreed to relocate some 3,000 MKO members from Camp New Iraq, formerly known as Camp Ashraf, to Camp Liberty.

The last group of MKO terrorists at Camp New Iraq was evicted on September 11 to join the other members of the terrorist group in the former US-held Camp Liberty, now called Camp Hurriya, near Baghdad International Airport, where they are awaiting relocation to other countries.

The meeting between Pakpour and Ghaidan Majid comes at the time of a surge in terrorist attacks across Iraq. Baghdad says the hike in violence is aimed to 'reignite sectarian strife' and divide the country.

The IRGC commander called for vigilance and solidarity among Muslims across the globe and stressed the role of their leaders in uniting the Islamic Ummah and foiling the enemies' divisive schemes.

'We must all vigilantly strive to eliminate the grounds for division among Muslims and take away any opportunities for the enemies to sow discord,' he urged.
