PHILADELPHIA (NNS) -- NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) hosted the F-35 Organic Supply Chain Workshop 4 from Sept. 16 to 20 in Philadelphia.

This five-day session was a culmination of a series of workshops focused on developing an operational framework to support the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) under an organic DoD Supply Chain. This team consisted of stakeholders and process owners from USN, USAF, DLA, and industry.

They identified metrics, developed command and control organizational structures, and high-level processes and IT architecture. These products will be proposed to senior DoD and eventually the JSF Program Office governance structure for consideration to adopt an organic supply chain for the JSF.

'These sessions are a great step forward,' said NAVSUP WSS Commander Rear Adm. John G. King. 'The working groups are taking a look at a joint organic solution that keeps both the Navy and the Air Force tied to JSF supply, which is exactly where we should be headed.'

Other key players participating in the workshop included Deputy Director of Logistics, Directorate of Logistics and Sustainment, Headquarters Air Force Material Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Ms. Lorna B. Estep; Director of Logistics, Air Force Sustainment Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla, Mr. Gilbert J. Montoya; Deputy Director DLA Aviation, Richmond, VA, Mr. Charlie Lilli; and Director of 448th Sustainment Command, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., Mr. Steven Alsup.

A field activity of the Naval Supply Systems Command, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) is the U.S. Navy's supply chain manager providing worldwide support to the aviation, surface ship, and submarine communities.

NAVSUP WSS provides Navy, Marine Corps, joint and allied forces with products and services that deliver combat capability through logistics. There are more than 2,000 civilian and military personnel employed at its two Pennsylvania sites.
