This was Dr. Carter's first trip to Israel as Deputy Secretary of Defense.

While in Israel, Deputy Secretary Carter met with senior Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Moshe 'Boogie' Ya'alon, National Security Advisor, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Yaakov Amidror, and other senior officials. Deputy Secretary Carter was hosted by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Udi Shani.
