SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Commander, Airborne Command Control and Logistics Wing, reassigned his Command Master Chief (CMC), June 21.

Capt. Todd Watkins took the action, following a Captain's Mast proceeding on June 17, at which the CMC, Master Chief Petty Officer Terry W. Piper, was found to have violated Article 107 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Making a False Official Statement.

The wing is based at Naval Base Ventura County, Calif.

Piper has been assigned to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 55 at Naval Base Ventura County while additional administrative actions resulting from the Captain's Mast are completed.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Joy S. McGill is acting as the Airborne Command Control and Logistics Wing CMC.

Command Master Chiefs are the senior enlisted leaders of a Navy command and have a great deal of responsibility for their unit's assigned Sailors and their mission. They strengthen the chain of command by keeping the Commanding Officer aware of existing or potential issues of concern as well as procedures and practices which affect the mission, readiness, welfare and morale of the Sailors in the command.
