Pentagon Press Secretary George Little provided the following readout:
'Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen today in Singapore. In both meetings, the two sides discussed a range of regional security issues.
'Prime Minister Lee and Defence Minister Ng welcomed the U.S. rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region and noted the importance of robust U.S. engagement in the region. They also reaffirmed the importance of the United States forward deploying on a rotational basis its first Littoral Combat ships to Singapore to enable the United States to increase its engagement with the region.
'Secretary Hagel also thanked Singapore for its contributions to coalition operations, including in Afghanistan.'
