Three US-led foreign forces and two Afghan soldiers have been injured in a bomb explosion in the troubled southern Afghanistan, Press TV reports.
The five soldiers were on patrol on Sunday when an improvised explosive device detonated in Helmand Province.
According to Australia’s Defense Ministry, two of the US-led forces were Australian.
The nationality of the other injured foreign trooper is still unknown.
Australia has 1600 troops in Afghanistan and so far it has lost 39 soldiers during the US-led war in the Asian country.
The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but the country is still gripped by insecurity.
The Afghan conflict has seen a surge in attacks on foreign troops in recent months. Around three hundred foreign soldiers were killed in the war-torn country last year alone.
The increasing number of military casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.
