Armed men wearing Afghan army uniforms have attacked the US military base in the eastern province of Kapisa, killing one civilian contractor, Press TV reports.
The incident occurred on Friday in the Tagab district.
Adam Wojack, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), said all three attackers were killed and that Afghan and NATO officials were investigating the incident.
The nationality of the victim will not be released till the victim’s next of kin are notified.
The incident is the latest of the so-called green on blue attacks, which see Afghan troops turn their guns on the US-led forces.
The anti-US sentiments among Afghan security forces are becoming a major threat in the war Washington and its allies have been leading in Afghanistan since their 2001 invasion of the country.
These green on blue attacks have increased dramatically in the past two years, accounting for 15 percent of the deaths of US led forces in 2012.
