Tel Aviv says the Israeli regime, the United States and Greece have launched a joint two-week Mediterranean naval exercise called ‘Noble Dina.’
“Noble Dina, one of the navy’s scheduled annual exercises, is part of the security cooperation between the Israeli navy and foreign naval forces,” the Israeli military said in a Thursday statement.
The statement also said the naval exercise was “an opportunity for mutual learning and for strengthening of the cooperation with its [Israel’s] allies.”
Israeli media said the exercise includes “defending offshore natural gas platforms, as well as simulated air-to-air combat and anti-submarine warfare.”
US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel recently reassured the Tel Aviv regime that Washington would continue funding Israel’s costly missile system known as the Iron Dome.
Hagel held a meeting with Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Ehud Barak at the Pentagon on March 5, during which he voiced Washington’s “strong commitment” to back funding for the Iron Dome, despite fiscal uncertainty for the US administration.
The Israeli regime receives more than three billion dollars from the United States in direct foreign assistance every year. Tel Aviv also gets $70 million more in military aid for its missile systems.
