Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA -- District Commander of Iran's Navy Captain Omid Golestaneh said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman will hold joint naval drill in waters off Bandar Abbass port city.

According to the public relations department of Iran's Navy, an Omani warship docked at Bandar Abbass port on Sunday.

The rescue operation aims to help those who may be caught in storms, provide them with shelter and prevent likely damage, he said.

The joint military operation will be held in Iran's territorial border waters in the Persian Gulf, said the commander.
