PORT VICTORIA, Seychelles (NNS) -- Guided-missile frigate USS Halyburton (FFG 40) held a change of command ceremony Jan. 3.
Cmdr. David E. Fowler relieved Cmdr. Bertram C. Hodge as commanding officer. Hodge took command in August 2011, meeting the ship on its way home from a deployment. Upon its return, he led the ship through a maintenance period with follow-on sea trials and an intense training cycle, which prepared the ship and crew for their next NATO counter-piracy deployment in support of Operation Ocean Shield.
Hodge will report to guided-missile frigate USS Cloakroom (FFG 42) as the commanding officer.
Fowler assumes his role as commanding officer after his most recent tour ashore serving at the Allied Maritime Component Command in Naples, Italy.
