Germany rips Zionist settlement plans
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Dec 3, IRNA -- German government here Monday lambasted Zionist regime for its plans to build 3,000 new homes in occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Talking to the press, a spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel voiced 'extreme concern' over the latest Israeli decision.
Steffen Seibert warned the Israeli action sent a 'negative message' and undermined the 'faith in its readiness for negotiations.'
Zionist regime ambassadors to a series of European countries, including France, England and Sweden, were reportedly summoned by their host nations Monday to hear protests about the Israeli plan.
The decision by Tel Aviv to build the homes was announced Friday, in response to the United Nations' vote upgrading the Palestinians' status to a 'non-member state.'
The decision triggered condemnation even from Israel's closest ally, the United States.
American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday that 'these activities set back the cause of a negotiated peace.'
