IMMEDIATE RELEASE | November 14, 2012 |
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., for appointment to the rank of general, and for assignment as commander, International Security Assistance Force; and commander, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan. Gen. Dunford is currently serving as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps.
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John M. Paxton Jr., for appointment to the rank of general, and for assignment as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps. Paxton is currently serving as commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command; commanding general, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic; commander, U.S. Marine Corps Bases Atlantic; commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe.
