No normalization with Israel without apology: Erdogan

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Berlin, Nov 1, IRNA -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his country would not normalize relations with Israel as long as the Zionist regime does not apologize for last year's deadly raid on the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara ship.

Speaking at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Wednesday, Erdogan said normalized ties with Israel had to include an apology, paying compensation to the families of the dead and lifting the Gaza blockade.

There can only be a normalization with Israel, if these conditions are met otherwise the normalization process cannot begin, the Turkish prime minister made clear.

Dozens of people were killed and injured in late May 2011 when masked Israeli naval commandos stormed the Turkish ship.

Israel faced global condemnation and protests for its excessive use of force and blatant disregard for international law.
