Over 40 Killed in Afghan Suicide Attack
17:05 26/10/2012 MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Forty-one people were killed and about 70 injured after a suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Maimana, the capital of Afghanistan's northern Faryab Province on Friday, the local government said.
A suicide attacker detonated his explosive vest while worshippers were leaving the mosque after Eid prayers.
It was earlier reported that 32 people were killed and 34 injured.
President Hamid Karzai condemned the mosque attack in a statement.
The attack came just before he repeated his call for the Taliban to join the government.
"If you [Taliban] want to come to the government, you are welcome. You have rights as an Afghan and as a Muslim," he said.
