NEW ORLEANS (NNS) -- The "Revelers" of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VR) 54 held their 16th change of command at the National World War II Museum Sept. 22.

Cmdr. Kate Standifer relieved Cmdr. Phillip Fauchex as the commanding officer of this C-130 Hercules squadron.

Vice Adm. Robin Braun, chief of Navy Reserve and commander Navy Reserve Force, served as guest speaker.

"Cmdr. Fauchex has the kind of spirit that makes people want to follow him," said Braun. "He has led the squadron to the top of their game. The squadron has flown 3,300 mishap-free hours during Fauchex's tenure as commanding officer."

Braun awarded Fauchex the Meritorious Service Medal prior to him addressing the audience.

"When my squadron succeeds it isn't because of me, but because of all of the hard work everyone has performed," said Fauchex. "The squadron should revel in their successes."

After thanking his family and all of the families of the Sailors assigned to VR-54, he acknowledged the support and hard work Standifer had performed as his executive officer (XO).

"She [Standifer] has been a friend and a great XO," said Fauchex. "

"It's been a pleasure to watch you rise," he continued. "You are the best officer I have ever worked with."

Standifer thanked Fauchex and addressed the squadron saying that the personnel make the planes fly and every one of them deserves that recognition.

"I look forward to working with each and every one of you during our future successes," she said.

Standifer is a 1996 Naval Academy graduate and was designated a Naval aviator in 1998. In 2005 she converted to full-time support.

Her military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
