Bosnian Court Jails Elite Soldiers For Srebrenica Killings

SARAJEVO – A Bosnian court has convicted four members of an elite former Bosnian Serb force – three of them Bosnian Serbs and the fourth a Slovene -- for their role in the Srebrenica killings of 1995.

The court ruled the four men took part in the deaths of some 800 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at a military facility during the massacre at Srebrenica, where some 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed.

The four were convicted of committing crimes against humanity.

Stanko Kojic was sentenced to 43 years in jail, Zoran Goronja and Slovenian Franc Kos to 40 years, and Vlastimir Golijan to 19 years.

Judge Mira Smajlovic said the panel of judges acquitted the four of charges of genocide, ruling there was insufficient proof of "genocidal intent."
