US spy aircraft kills 4 more in NW Pakistan

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Islamabad, June 2, IRNA -- A US spy aircraft fired missiles into Pakistan’s South Waziristan tribal area Saturday, killing at least four people, residents said.

It was the second strike in Waziristan region six days as two strikes on Monday had killed 11 people in North Waziristan.

Tribesmen said that a US spy aircraft fired four missiles on a house and a vehicle parked inside near Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan in the morning. They said the house and vehicle were completely destroyed.

Residents said they had seen several American unmanned aircraft before they fired missiles.

Identity of the slain men was not known.

The Saturday strike was 6 in 10 days and 17 in Waziristan tribal region. Nearly 130 people have been killed in such strikes in 2012.

Pakistan opposes the US drone strikes on its soil and describes it as a serious violation of its sovereignty and a contravention of the international law, but the United States insists claims that it is an effective way to fight against the militants.
