Turkey to stage maritime exercise under Iran supervision

Ankara, April 25, IRNA -- For the first ever, Turkey Army’s navy is to stage the `Sea Lion-2012’ maneuver, under supervision of Iranian military forces in the Aegean Sea in Izmir coasts on Thursday.

Units of Turkey’s naval and air forces, coast guard and Ministry of Transportation, using different kinds of naval vessels, fighter bombers and helicopters, will take part in the exercise, supervised by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Islamic Republic Army as well as certain other countries.

The maneuver is held in the Aegean Sea once in two years for discovery and rescue in the sea.
