SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded a $6.99 million task order, March 21, to Hal Hays Construction Inc. of Riverside, Calif., to design and build a dip tank cleaning facility at Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Barstow, Calif.
The task order is part of a multiple award construction contract.
"The new dip tank cleaning facility will improve processes to increase industrial productivity and greatly decrease down-time that current operations intermittently experience," said Tim Brogan NAVFAC Southwest design manager for the project.
The dip tank cleaning facility will serve the overhauling and modification of Marine Corps assets and equipment at MCLB Barstow.
The task order contains one planned modification that could change the cumulative value of the task order to $7.57 million if awarded. The planned modification provides for furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
"This project will provide improved working conditions for MCLB personnel," said Brogan. "The climate-controlled work areas will provide relief from extreme desert conditions."
The project is scheduled for completion by September 2013.
