DOD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for Fiscal 2012, Through Febraury

The Department of Defense announced today recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for fiscal 2012, through February.

Active Component.

Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through February.

Army -- 22,478 accessions, with a goal of 22,350; 100 percent
Navy -- 11,978 accessions, with a goal of 11,978; 100 percent
Marine Corps -- 9,058 accessions, with a goal of 9,027; 100 percent
Air Force -- 12,314 accessions, with a goal of 12,314; 100 percent

Retention. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force all exhibited strong retention through the fifth month of fiscal 2012.

Reserve Component.

Recruiting. Five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through February.

Army National Guard -- 19,910 accessions, with a goal of 21,483; 93 percent
Army Reserve -- 12,064 accessions, with a goal of 10,702; 113 percent
Navy Reserve -- 3,099 accessions, with a goal of 3,099; 100 percent
Marine Corps Reserve -- 3,816 accessions, with a goal of 3,537; 108 percent
Air National Guard -- 3,389 accessions, with a goal of 3,375; 100 percent
Air Force Reserve -- 3,564 accessions, with a goal of 3,564; 100 percent

Attrition -- All reserve components are on target to achieve their fiscal year attrition goals.
