Two Albanian Soldiers Killed In Afghan Attack
February 20, 2012
Gunmen in Afghan police uniforms opened fire on NATO troops in southern Afghanistan on February 20, killing two Albanian soldiers.
The Albanian Defense Ministry said 11 Afghan policemen have been arrested over the incident in the village of Robot, in Kandahar province's Spin Boldak district which borders Pakistan.
The ministry said the troops had gone there for a meeting about opening two schools and a health center.
It said another foreign soldier was wounded, but did not specify the victim's nationality.
The pair were Albania's first fatal casualties in Afghanistan, where Tirana has deployed some 260 troops.
