Israel Aerospace Industries Awarded $150 Million Contract

Feb 8, 2012

Israel Aerospace Industries' (IAI) ELTA Systems will provide fire control radars (FCR) for installation onboard a foreign customer's fighter aircraft. After an evaluation process of several possible solutions, the customer selected the ELM-2032 FCR made by ELTA Systems Ltd., an IAI group and subsidiary. The customer awarded IAI a $150 Million contract.

The modern ELM-2032 radar system implements advanced technologies that greatly enhance surveillance and fire control capabilities in air-to-air, air-to-ground and air-to-sea operation modes. The ELM-2032 is critical to the fighter aircraft's weapon system effectiveness and accuracy. It detects and tracks maneuvering targets while employing advanced techniques to lock on the target.

The light-weight compact radar was developed while incorporating operational feedback of fighter pilots. The ELM-2032 sets very high performance standards with a competitive and attractive price. Modular hardware design, software control and a flexible avionic interface ensure that the radar can be installed in different fighter aircraft and can be customized to meet specific user requirements.

Israel Aerospace Industries will present its advanced products and unique technologies at the 2012 Singapore Airshow, February 14-19 2012.

Total Connectivity will be IAI's leading theme at the show. IAI's new Total Connectivity Solutions is a world leading technology enabling optimal communication management and real-time data transfer between control centers and operators of ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and UAV systems, multi-layered defense systems and precision strike systems. The integrated Network of Networks allows superiority on land, at sea, in the air and in space. It ensures meeting the most demanding operational needs - first to know, to defend and then strike.

After a long and intense study of future operational battlefield requirements, experts from various divisions of IAI developed an operational solution that is at the leading edge of Data link Network Technology. The solution is based on fourth-generation cellular and SDR (Software Defined Radio) technologies, adapted to fit future defense requirements on multiple platforms, while taking into account the evolving need for mobility, high bandwidth, information assurance and security. IAI's Network of Networks technology was developed as a result of identifying the imperative need around the world.

In addition IAI will exhibit various systems that can be integrated into a complete operational system which include: ISR platforms, the Heron TP UAS, the Heron-1 UAS, the Panther UAS and the hovering ETOP, Alpha Radar, Barak 8 and Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 anti-ballistic missiles, and strike capabilities such as the HAROP loitering strike weapon, Jumper tactical rockets and Multi-Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) will be on display.
