Iran, Oman underline joint naval cooperation for regional peace

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA -- The Commanders of Iranian and Omani naval forces Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Admiral Abdollah bin Khamis bin Abdollah al-Raisi on Monday underlined the need for joint cooperation to maintain regional peace and stablity.

They exchanged views on different issues of mutual interest especially cooperation in the field of defense.

Admiral Sayyari referring the two countries' religious, cultural and historical commonalties and called for continuation of mutual military cooperation.

The visiting Omani Admiral expressed pleasure with his presence in Iran and called for closer cooperation between the two countries' naval forces.

He expressed his country's interest in holding joint marine maneuvers and boosting educational and technical cooperation with Iran.

Al-Raisi and his entourage are scheduled to visit various facilities belonging to the Iranian Navy.
