From Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 1 Public Affairs

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Commander, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) 1 relieved the command master chief of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 3, Dec. 16.

Capt. Edward W. Eidson relieved Command Master Chief Lee Morrison citing a loss of confidence in his ability to perform as a command master chief.

Punitive and administrative action was taken by Eidson Dec. 29 for Morrison failing to follow reporting requirements and implement command policies.

As part of the command leadership triad, command master chiefs carry a great deal of responsibility; their performance must be impeccable to serve their Sailors and their commanding officer.

Morrison served as the command master chief of EODMU-3 at Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, Calif., since May 2010 and has been temporarily reassigned to the staff of EODGRU-1.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Master Chief Christopher Borkenheim will serve as the command master chief for EODMU-3.

EODMU-3 exercises operational and administrative control of assigned EOD Forces that deploy across the globe in support of joint and naval force commanders.
