US drone kills 4 in Pakistan
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Sept 11, IRNA -- US drone aircraft fired missiles into Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region on Sunday and killed four people, local media reported.
Geo television reported that the spy plane fired two missiles on a housed and a vehicle near Mir Ali, a main town 30 kilometers from Miranshah, center of North Waziristan.
Residents pulled bodies out of the vehicle, which was destroyed in the attack.
It was the first US strike in September.
The strike coincided with the 10th anniversary of attacks in New York and Washington.
Correspondents said that US pilotless aircraft were flying over the area after the strike.
Despite public protest by Pakistan, US drones routinely fire missiles on suspected hideout of the militants in Waziristan tribal regions, which the US considers as the stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaeda remnants.
Rights groups and tribesmen say that mostly civilians are killed in US attacks.
