Saratoga Springs Commanding Officer Relieved

NORFOLK (NNS) -- The commanding officer of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Saratoga Springs, N.Y., was relieved of command by Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Aug. 24.
Rear Admiral Mark S. Boensel relieved Cmdr. Laredo Bell of his duties as commanding officer of NSA Saratoga Springs due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.
Bell was cited by the Albany County, N.Y., sheriff's department for driving under the influence early morning Aug. 20.
Bell has been temporarily assigned to Naval Submarine Base New London, Conn., pending adjudication of the citation in civilian court.
Cmdr. Rosario McWhorter, deputy commander, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Kitterey, Maine, has assumed command of NSA Saratoga Springs until a permanent relief is identified.
