Islamabad, Aug 1 -- A US spy aircraft fired missiles into Pakistan's South Waziristan tribal region and killed at least eight people, correspondents in the region said.
The drone fired two missiles on a vehicle at Azam Warsak border town, killing 5 persons at the scene. three died later of wounds, a corespondent told IRNA from Wana, the center of South Waziristan. Two other people were injured.
Sources said that Taliban militants were travelling in the vehicle. There was no information if any high value target was in the vehicle when came under attack.
South Waziristan is the birthplace of Pakistan's Taliban movement, where the security forces launched a major operation against the militants in 2009. The army declared victory in early 2010 but militants are still hiding in mountains and some time launch attacks on the security forces.
Security sources believe that militants from Afghanistan and some other countries are also hiding in South Waziristan.
