TALLINN, Estonia (NNS) -- The guided-missile frigate USS Carr (FFG 52) pulled into Tallinn, Estonia, for a scheduled port visit July 22.

During the visit, the ship's crew will host a reception, provide ship tours to students from a local sailing school and participate in sporting events with local community.

"We are looking forward to experiencing the culture of Tallinn." said Cmdr. Patrick E. Kulakowski, Carr commanding officer. "Not every Sailor gets the opportunity to visit Estonia. I stress with my Sailors that we need to take advantage of our time abroad to understand their history and culture so that we can continue to build understanding and strong ties between our nations."

Carr Sailors will also tour the city and experience its mix of modern and medieval culture.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the historic sites," said Yeoman 2nd Class Edward Williams. "I'm also excited about visiting the place where Skype was invented, which I'll be using to talk to my family tonight."

Carr is homeported out of Norfolk, Va., and is on a three-month deployment supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
