Turkish PM threatens Gaza visit
12:36 20/07/2011 ANKARA, July 20 (RIA Novosti) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit the Gaza Strip if Israel does not apologize for its 2010 attack on the Freedom Flotilla, Turkish media reported.
"Erdogan's visit to Gaza will spark a new crisis in Turkish-Israeli relations," Turkey's Radical paper said, referring to diplomatic sources.
Relations between Israel and Turkey, which was previously Israel's closest ally in the region, have been on the rocks since last year when Israeli commandos raided the Gaza-bound aid flotilla, killing nine Turkish activists.
Erdogan has said he will visit Gaza, if the "conditions are right."
Ankara has yet to comment on the report.
