Pakistan, India vow to continue talks

Islamabad, July 19, IRNA -- Pakistan and India Tuesday expressed satisfaction at the resumption of dialogue process and said they attach importance to the upcoming talks of foreign ministers in New Delhi.

Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar Tuesday received the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Sharat Sabharwal at the Foreign Office and both discussed matters relating to the coming talks, the Foreign Office said.

According to the Foreign Office, foreign ministers of the two countries will meet later this month to review the progress made during the series of talks by senior officials of the two countries over the past few months. The foreign ministers will also discuss the issues of terrorism and the dispute over Kashmir.

Ms. Khar will travel to India for talks.

Ms. Khar expressed satisfaction at the resumption of the full spectrum dialogue and progress made so far in the dialogue process. She stressed that the dialogue process should be uninterrupted and uninterpretable, help in building trust and be result oriented.

Ms. Khar added that ensuring cooperative relations with countries of the region was at the forefront of Pakistan’s foreign policy, a Foreign Ministry statement said.

High Commissioner Sabharwal said that the Indian External Affairs Minister is looking forward to Minister of State’s visit to India. He agreed with the Minister of State that the dialogue process is as much about building trust as about resolving all issues.

Minister of State stated that she was looking forward to her visit to New Delhi, the statement said.
