US army shoots at German school: media
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Jul 12, IRNA -- Stray bullets from a US army firing range in southern Germany accidentally struck a vocational school and a house in a nearby town during shooting practice, media reports quoted US military officials as saying Monday.
The US army has begun its probe looking into why 12.7 millimetre rounds, fired Friday from a four-wheel-drive vehicle, hit a vocational school, a house and a garage outside
the Grafenwoehr US Army training ground, located around 200 kilometers north of Munich.
The buildings were 5 kilometers away from where the heavy machine gun mounted on the vehicle was firing.
Grafenwoehr which is the largest training ground for the US military in Europe, was the site of a similar incident 10 years ago when a wayward shell targeted a German elementary school near the grounds, where troops train before heading to Afghanistan.
No one was injured in that incident as well.
