VP-45 Brings P-3C to Sea Breeze 2011

ODESSA, Ukraine (NNS) -- Members of Patrol Squadron (VP) 45 in conjunction with members of the Ukrainian military held a small media availability with local Ukrainian media in Odessa, Ukraine, June 9.

During the meeting, VP-45 announced the participation of the P-3C aircraft in exercise Sea Breeze 2011 and provided an overview of the multinational training evolutions that would occur during the remainder of the exercise.

"VP-45 will be utilizing the P-3C in collaboration multinational ships to conduct maritime training operations," said Lt. Brandon Colvin

Colvin further discussed the P-3C's capabilities and how they will be utilized with other multinational services.

"The main use of the P-3C is anti-submarine warfare, so we'll be working along with a Ukrainian KA-27 and MI-14 aircraft to conduct training exercises in that area," said Colvin.

Air, land and naval forces from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Belgium, Denmark, Georgia, Germany, Macedonia, Moldova, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States will participate in Sea Breeze, the largest multinational maritime exercise this year in the Black Sea, June 6-18, and is co-hosted by the Ukrainian and U.S. Navies.

Exercise Sea Breeze 2011 aims to improve maritime safety, security and stability actions in the Black Sea by enhancing the capabilities of Partnership for Peace and Black Sea regional maritime security forces.
