Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced the following Department of Defense Senior Executive Service appointments and reassignments:
Karen Guice has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as principal deputy general counsel for health affairs/principal deputy director, Tricare Management Activity, Washington, D.C. Guice previously served as executive director, federal recovery coordination program, Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington, D.C.
Eric A. Pierce has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs), Washington, D.C. Pierce previously served as special assistant/team chief for policy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs), Washington, D.C.
Alissa Starzak has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as deputy general counsel (legislation), Office of the General Counsel, Washington, D.C. Starzak previously served as counsel and professional staff member to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Washington, D.C.
Shay D. Assad has been assigned as director, defense pricing, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Washington, D.C. Assad previously served as director, defense procurement and acquisition policy, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Washington, D.C.
Paul Hutter has been assigned as general counsel, Tricare Management Activity, Falls Church, Va. Hutter previously served as principal deputy general counsel, Tricare Management Activity, Falls Church, Va.
