Egypt to simplify Rafah border crossing for Palestinians
12:52 12/05/2011 GAZA, May 12 (RIA Novosti) - Egypt will facilitate the procedure for Palestinians who wish to enter the country through the Rafah border crossing, the Al Hayat newspaper reported on Thursday.
Under new regulations, all women and men under 18 and over 40 will be allowed to cross the border without prior permission, the paper said.
Egyptian authorities have also started reviewing blacklists of Palestinians that were made in the 1950s and are still in force.
The Rafah crossing was closed when the radical Islamic group Hamas seized control of the Strip in the summer of 2007, ousting President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement.
