Egyptian Gas Terminal To Israel, Jordan Attacked
April 27, 2011
A pipeline carrying gas from Egypt to Israel and Jordan has exploded after an attack by an armed gang in the north Sinai area of Egypt.
As a result of the explosion at the al-Sabil terminal near the town of El-Arish, Egypt's pipeline exporting gas to Israel and Jordan has been shut down.
In February, an explosion at a different section of the pipeline cut gas shipments to Israel and Jordan for a month.
Later in the day, dozens of protesters gathered in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo demanding Egypt sever ties with and end gas exports to Israel.
