General Dynamics Selected for U.S. Army's Operations, Planning, Training and Resource Support Services II Contract

FAIRFAX, Va. -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been selected by the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) as an awardee for the Operations, Planning, Training and Resource Support Services (OPTARSS) II contract. The five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, multiple-award contract has a total potential value of $2.5 billion if all options are exercised.

Work performed under the OPTARSS II contract can include planning, training, operations, mobilization and deployment, airfield operations, transformation, modeling and simulation, flight operations and force protection. The General Dynamics Information Technology 15-company team is currently delivering comprehensive support to various elements of the Department of Defense and U.S. Army, including FORSCOM, Training and Doctrine Command and Installation Management Command.

“Based on our extensive experience, General Dynamics understands the U.S. Army’s land forces requirements for successful mission fulfillment and operations through proper planning, realistic training, rapid deployment and decisive action,” said Zannie Smith, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology’s Army Solutions Division. “We will provide continued support to the U.S. Army with operations-focused support services throughout the world, whenever necessary.”

As an awardee of the previous OPTARSS I contract, General Dynamics effectively supported the U.S. Army through 25 task orders, including support for the transformation of the U.S. Army from a division-centric force designed to fight one or two wars to a modular, brigade-centric structure able to deploy continuously worldwide. U.S Army Forces Command trains, mobilizes, deploys, sustains, transforms and reconstitutes conventional forces in order to provide a sustained flow of relevant and ready land power to Combatant Commanders worldwide in defense of the nation both at home and abroad.
